Palintest Provide Water Quality Training on RedR/ Cranfield University Borehole Drilling Course

Last month Product Manager for our Wagtech range Shaurya Sheoran and Technical Support Specialist Jessica McKenna provided some water quality training sessions as part of the RedR/ Cranfield University borehole drilling course. The event is a week-long training course covering well siting, drilling supervision and water quality sampling that is aimed at both postgraduate students from Cranfield University and professionals from NGOs and water utilities.

Shaurya and Jess provided hands-on product training, using Palintest products to allow the course attendees to test for physical and chemical parameters in the water from the boreholes they had drilled. They then also provided demonstrations of microbiological testing using membrane filtration equipment from one of our Wagtech kits, and some chemical parameter testing including arsenic measurement. This is something which is vitally important in the humanitarian sector due to the dangers associated with arsenic contamination in water and high levels of arsenic in groundwater in some regions.

One of the course organisers, hydrogeologist Peter Dumble said “Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive and they clearly enjoyed the practical nature of the course. There seemed to be a lot of interest from those in the WASH sector in your new equipment in development for arsenic analysis.”

This was a great opportunity to showcase some of our current product range as well as exciting upcoming product launches and gain very valuable feedback from individuals working in the humanitarian sector.
